Gillingham & Shaftesbury Show
22 August 2014
The sun shone (most of the time) and the crowds turned out to enjoy the Gillingham & Shaftesbury Show on Wednesday 20th August. Our fundraising team pulled out all the stops to set up a fantastic stall consisting of three gazebos which were filled to bursting with tombola prizes, all sorts of cat themed goods to buy, cat toys, hand-knitted woolly hats, Christmas cards, make-up, children's lucky dip, the ever popular Beanie babies and a huge number of bottles to refill the bottle bag lucky dip. This last was a new innovation which proved enormously popular as every bag held a prize - for only £1!
Thank you to everyone who visited our stall and for supporting us and to those who donated or made goods beforehand to sell or use as prizes. We are always delighted when people stop to talk to us on the stall about the cats they have adopted from us and we love to hear the stories. Hopefully some of you who stopped to look at the photos of our current cats and kittens looking for homes will get in touch and perhaps find a feline furry friend to adopt.
At the end of the day we had taken nearly £700, in addition we are very grateful to Longmead Veterinary Practice who collected £57 for us on their stall, bringing our grand total to well over £700, a tremendous result. So a huge thank you to everyone involved.
